Choosing a gateway — FAQ

How do I choose a payment gateway for my country?

Start with the section for your market below. A local gateway (Razorpay in India, Paystack in Nigeria, PayTabs in the Gulf, Mercado Pago in Latin America) usually means lower fees and the payment methods your buyers already trust — cards, wallets, bank transfers and cash vouchers. If you sell across borders, pair it with a global gateway like Stripe or PayPal.

What's the difference between a global and a local payment gateway?

Global gateways (Stripe, PayPal, Adyen) work almost everywhere and are quick to set up, but may not support local methods or the lowest fees in every country. Local gateways specialise in one market — their methods, currencies and pricing are tuned for buyers there. Many PremiumPress sites run one of each.

Do these payment gateways cost extra?

The plugins are free to download for every active PremiumPress member — no per-gateway or monthly add-on fees. You'll still pay the gateway's own transaction fees to the provider, which vary by gateway and country.

Can I offer more than one payment gateway?

Yes. Install as many as you like and your customers choose at checkout — for example a local gateway for domestic buyers plus PayPal for international ones.

Do I need a WordPress theme to use these gateways?

Yes — these are plugins for the PremiumPress framework, so you need a PremiumPress theme installed. Browse the themes and add the gateways your market needs.
