Video Sharing WordPress Themes in 2026: 7 Checked for Uploads, Channels and Paid Access
By Mark Fail ·

A video blog and a video sharing site need different themes. On a blog, you post the videos. On a YouTube-style site, other people sign up, upload clips and get a channel, and viewers subscribe to them. Most "best video theme" lists don't separate the two.
We looked at seven themes and asked three things of each. Can members upload from the front end? Do they get channels? Can you charge for access without adding a membership plugin? Everything was checked against the theme's own page and live demo on 1 October 2026. One of the seven is our PremiumPress Video Theme. At the end there's a short list of older themes that are no longer sold or updated.

VidoRev

When we asked ChatGPT which theme to use for a YouTube-style site, VidoRev was its first answer. Members can submit videos, playlists and channels from the front end, and viewers can subscribe to channels. Paste a link from YouTube, Vimeo, Dailymotion, Twitch, Facebook or Google Drive and the theme fills in the title, thumbnail and duration for you. Pre-roll ads work with Google's IMA SDK or any VAST tag. It also supports BuddyPress and bbPress.
To charge for access you need a plugin. Memberships use Paid Memberships Pro or WooCommerce Memberships, which VidoRev marks as beta. Single videos are sold through WooCommerce. VidoRev costs $59. It has 3,472 sales and a 4.75 rating from 174 reviews, and it was last updated on 1 December 2025.
Pros
- The widest set of import sources in this list
- User channels, playlists and subscriptions
- Ad support that works with Google Ad Manager tags
- Large user base and strong rating
Cons
- Paid access needs Paid Memberships Pro or WooCommerce, and a $2,950 Extended Licence
- No update for ten months at the time of checking
- One site per Regular Licence
VidMov

VidMov is made by beeteam368, the same developer as VidoRev, and it's the newer of the two. Its upload form sends files in chunks. That helps when a member uploads a file bigger than your host normally accepts in one go. It also plays HLS streams and connects to Bunny Stream, so your server doesn't have to deliver every video itself. Channels, playlists and series are all there, along with fetching from YouTube, Vimeo and Dailymotion.
The product page lists Pay Per View and Subscription next to the names of four plugins: ArMember, Paid Memberships Pro, myCred and WooCommerce. We couldn't tell if paid viewing works without one of them, so check the documentation first. VidMov costs $59 and has 1,450 sales with a 4.66 rating from 67 reviews. Version 2.4.0 came out on 2 September 2026.
Pros
- Chunked uploads for large member files
- HLS and Bunny Stream support
- Updated in September 2026
- Audio as well as video
Cons
- Paid viewing appears to lean on third-party plugins
- Smaller user base than VidoRev
- One site per Regular Licence
BeTube

BeTube's main demo is called "youtube-clone", and it looks the part, with a dark layout, a left sidebar, category chips and a Shorts link.
Members can submit videos from the front end and sign in with Facebook, Twitter or Google. You can embed from YouTube, Vimeo, Dailymotion, Hulu and over 20 other sites. The pre-roll slot takes video ads, image ads or Google AdSense without a plugin. JoinWebs has sold it for ten years and still updates it. The September 2026 release added a gaming layout and reaction buttons, and fixed duplicate posts from the YouTube importer. Viewers get a watch-later list but no playlists, and paid memberships go through Paid Memberships Pro. At $39 it's the cheapest paid theme here. It has 2,090 sales and a 4.32 rating from 78 reviews, and it was last updated on 7 September 2026.
Pros
- Lowest price of the paid themes
- Built-in pre-roll, image and AdSense ads
- Social logins for quick sign-up
- Actively updated
Cons
- Watch later only, no user playlists
- Paid access needs Paid Memberships Pro
- Lowest rating of the three ThemeForest themes
PremiumPress (ours)

We make this theme. Unlike the three above, it handles payments itself. From the admin you can set up membership plans with recurring billing, members-only videos, and pay-per-view with a free preview. You can also sell ad space and paid promotion slots. Payments go through Stripe, PayPal, Mollie and many other gateways, which are free add-ons. Paid video files are moved out of the public uploads folder and played through links that expire.
Members can upload MP4, WebM or MOV files or paste a YouTube or Vimeo link. Each member gets a channel page with a subscriber count. Viewers can like videos, save them for later, build playlists and see their history.
It has limits too. Videos aren't transcoded, so they play at whatever quality they were uploaded in. Uploads are capped at 128 MB by default. Subscribers don't get a notice when a channel posts something new. All payments go to you as the site owner, and creators aren't paid out automatically. Viewers leave star reviews with replies, not open comments. The theme costs $99 once for unlimited sites you own and comes with 25 starting designs.
Pros
- Memberships, pay-per-view and ad sales without extra plugins
- Paid files stored privately and served by expiring links
- Optional live streaming from the browser
- Unlimited sites on one licence
Cons
- No transcoding or quality switching
- No creator payouts or upload notifications
- Live streaming needs a paid Cloudflare Stream account
- Costs more up front than the ThemeForest themes
Videozoom

Videozoom from WPZOOM turns up on most "best video theme" lists, so we included it, but it does a narrower job. It's built for one publisher showing their own videos. You get a full-width slider, lightbox playback, automatic thumbnails and a dark mode. Videos can be self-hosted or embedded from YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook, Dailymotion, Brightcove or Amazon S3. Pages are built with Elementor or the block editor.
There's nothing for members. The product page doesn't mention uploads, channels or paid access. It's a good fit for a media brand, a church or a production company. The single theme costs €69 a year or €179 one-time. WPZOOM reports 1,412 sales and a 5.0 rating from 5 votes, and version 5.0.3 came out on 11 September 2026.
Pros
- Polished presentation for your own videos
- Wide range of embed sources, including S3
- Works with Elementor and the block editor
Cons
- No member uploads or channels
- No memberships or ads
- Yearly pricing unless you pay the one-time fee
Hello WpStream

Hello WpStream is a free theme on WordPress.org from the makers of the WpStream plugin, and it's built for live video. Users you choose can stream from the front end. Recordings become on-demand videos, which you can group into series. Pay-per-view runs through WooCommerce. The demos include a church, an esports site and a live shopping channel.
The theme costs nothing, but the streaming does. Video runs on WpStream's own servers, and after the free trial the Lite plan is $24 a month or $36 one-time. That covers 100 broadcast hours and 500 viewer hours. Recurring subscriptions also need WooCommerce Subscriptions, which WpStream lists at $279 a year. Members can't upload normal videos. The theme has 100 active installs and one 5-star rating, and it was last updated on 19 June 2026.
Pros
- Free theme with live streaming at its centre
- Recordings become replays automatically
- No bandwidth load on your own server
Cons
- Needs a paid WpStream plan after the trial
- No member video uploads or channels
- Subscriptions need a $279-a-year WooCommerce extension
VideoShare

VideoShare from WPEnjoy is free on WordPress.org and looks like a video site straight away, with a big featured video, category rows and a grid. You can embed from YouTube, Vimeo or Dailymotion, or host the files yourself. It doesn't need a page builder or extra plugins.
Only you can post videos on it, though. There are no member uploads, no channels and no paid access. Use it to test whether people will watch your videos before you spend money on a bigger theme. VideoShare has 100 active installs and no reviews yet. Version 1.0.9 came out on 23 January 2026.
Pros
- Free, with no required plugins
- Looks like a video site out of the box
Cons
- No member uploads, channels or paid access
- Small install base and no reviews
Gone or stale
Many video theme lists, and some AI answers, still recommend themes from 2018 to 2022. Two of the best known are no longer sold. The ThemeForest pages for VideoPro by CactusThemes and goWatch by TouchSize both showed "410 Gone" when we checked. VideoPro's demo is still up, and its Buy button still leads to the dead page.
Three others are still on sale but haven't been updated for over a year. Vlog by meks has 6,484 sales but was last updated on 30 August 2023. VideoTube was last updated on 27 August 2024, and Viem on 1 September 2024.
For a video site that's a real problem. YouTube, Vimeo and WordPress all keep changing, and a theme that isn't updated will eventually break.
Final thoughts
For a YouTube-style community paid for by ads, VidoRev and BeTube have the longest track records. VidoRev imports from more sites and has more users. BeTube is cheaper, was updated more recently and has AdSense built in. If your members will upload long or high-quality videos, pick VidMov for its chunked uploads and Bunny Stream support.
If you want to charge viewers, every ThemeForest theme here needs a plugin such as Paid Memberships Pro to do it. Envato's licence terms also require an Extended Licence for a paid site, which costs $2,450 to $3,333. Our Video Theme has payments built in and covers unlimited sites for $99, but it has no transcoding and no creator payouts.
For your own channel, choose Videozoom, or VideoShare if you want something free. For live events with replays, Hello WpStream is the quickest to set up if you're happy to pay for a WpStream plan.
