WordPress for Coaches: Booking, Courses and Memberships on One Site
By Mark Fail ·

A coaching business usually sells three things. There are one-to-one calls, a programme or course people work through on their own, and some kind of members' area or group where clients keep talking to you and each other. Most "coaching themes" only give you the brochure around those things. The calendar, the course player and the paywall come from plugins.
So we looked at the pieces a coach actually puts together on WordPress. That means a booking plugin, a course plugin, a membership plugin with a coaching add-on, a coaching theme and our own course theme. Prices and figures were checked on 1 October 2026. Further down we price three realistic setups for the first year.
One thing up front. Our Booking Theme has coaching designs, but it isn't on sale yet, so it isn't in this list.

Simply Schedule Appointments

Most coaches start with calls, and this is the booking plugin we'd try first. It has over 50,000 active installs on WordPress.org and a perfect 5.0 rating from 155 reviews. The last update was on 23 September 2026.
The free Basic edition takes bookings. Plus costs $99 a year and adds Google Calendar sync, Zoom and Google Meet links, and group bookings. If clients pay when they book, you need Professional at $199 a year, which adds Stripe and PayPal along with SMS reminders. Those are introductory prices for one site. Renewals are charged at the full rate, which is $249 for Professional.
Its demo page for personal trainers is a single pitch for 1-on-1 sessions with one big Start Booking Today button. Coaches don't need much more than that.
Pros
- Very well rated, and a working free version
- Zoom and Google Meet integration from the $99 edition
- MemberPress CoachKit connects to it
Cons
- Taking payment needs the $199 edition
- Renewals cost more than the first year
- Does nothing for courses or members
Tutor LMS

When the coaching turns into a course, Tutor LMS is the plugin most people end up comparing against. It has more than 100,000 active installs and a 4.4 rating from 589 reviews, and version 4.1.0 shipped on 29 September 2026.
The core plugin is free. Pro starts at $199 a year for one site, or $499 once for lifetime updates, and every plan has all the Pro add-ons. For a coach, the useful ones are course subscriptions, site-wide memberships, coupons and live classes through Zoom, Google Meet or Jitsi. Payments can go through PayPal, Stripe, Authorize.net or Paddle.
Live classes are group sessions inside a course. They don't replace a booking calendar where one client picks a slot with you.
Pros
- Large user base and frequent updates
- Subscriptions and memberships in every Pro plan
- Live classes for group coaching
- Lifetime licence option
Cons
- No one-to-one booking
- You still need a theme that suits it
- Pro is needed for the paid features coaches want
MemberPress CoachKit

CoachKit is the only product here built around the coaching relationship itself. You set up programmes with milestones, clients follow them, and you message clients from inside the site. It sits inside MemberPress, which handles memberships and comes with its own course builder with quizzes and certificates.
CoachKit doesn't book calls. Its page says scheduling runs through Calendly or Simply Schedule Appointments.
It needs the MemberPress Growth plan, which is $349.50 for the first year and $699 a year after that. The cheaper Launch plan doesn't include it. We didn't find a public demo of CoachKit, so our screenshot is the add-on page. Refunds are open for 14 days.
Pros
- Programmes, milestones and client messaging
- Memberships and courses from the same vendor
- Works with the scheduling tool you already use
Cons
- Renewal doubles to $699 a year
- Booking needs another tool
- No public demo that we could find
PremiumPress (ours)

We make this one. The product we'd point a coach to today is our Learning Theme, and the screenshot is its Coachly design. It's a course theme with payments built in, so there's no separate LMS or membership plugin to buy.
You build a programme as a course split into sections and lessons. Clients can buy it once, or you can bill it monthly or yearly with a free trial. The trial can take a card up front or not, and each account only ever gets one trial per course. Lessons stay locked until someone enrols, apart from any you mark as free previews. Clients tick lessons off and can pick up where they left off. Each course has its own discussion tab that only enrolled clients can see, which works well for a group programme. Checkout handles coupons and tax.
There are 27 homepage designs, and three of them are a coaching set. Circleboard is laid out like a community, Coachly like a course catalogue, and Mentorbase like a single creator's school.
The weak spot for coaches is booking. The Learning Theme has no appointment calendar at all, so you'd add a booking plugin or a Calendly link for calls. There are no quizzes, drip schedules or certificates either, even though some demo blocks mention them. Payment gateways such as Stripe are separate plugins.
The price is $99 once for all the sites you own, with six months of updates and then $49 per six months if you want more. You get 14 days to ask for a refund.
Pros
- Courses, subscriptions and free trials without extra plugins
- Private discussion for each course
- A ready-made coaching design set
- Unlimited sites for one payment
Cons
- No one-to-one booking
- No quizzes, drip or certificates
- Card payments need a gateway plugin
Coaching WP

If you mostly want a personal site that looks like a coach's site, ThimPress has sold its Coaching theme for ten years. It has 7,815 sales on ThemeForest and a 4.72 rating from 248 reviews. It was last updated on 20 August 2026 and costs $49.
There are more than 15 demos, including life, business, health and gym coaching. The Life Coach demo above leads with a "Get Started" button and has menus for courses and podcasts. Courses run on the free LearnPress plugin, which has 70,000 active installs. The item page says you can book sessions, but it doesn't name the booking tool, so plan to add one.
Selling courses means charging people to use the site. Envato's licence FAQ says that needs an Extended Licence, and this theme's is $2,950.
Pros
- Cheapest way to get a coaching look
- Plenty of coaching demos
- Works with Elementor, WPBakery or SiteOrigin
Cons
- $2,950 Extended Licence if you sell courses on the site
- Booking tool not named
- Demo pages still use placeholder text in places
Three setups
These costs are for the first year. They leave out hosting, your domain and card fees, which you pay whichever way you go.
Calls only
A free theme plus Simply Schedule Appointments Professional at $199. Clients book and pay in one go, and the Zoom or Google Meet integration from the cheaper edition is included. Most coaches should start here. If you invoice clients separately, the $99 Plus edition is enough.
Calls plus a course
Here you have two options. Tutor LMS Pro at $199 and the booking plugin at $199 come to $398, plus a theme. Our Learning Theme at $99 with the same booking plugin is $298, or $347 if you renew updates halfway through the year. Both give you paid courses and monthly subscriptions. Tutor adds live classes and quizzes. Ours has the discussion tab and the coaching designs.
A full coaching programme
MemberPress Growth with CoachKit is $349.50, and you connect Calendly or the free edition of Simply Schedule Appointments. That gets you milestones, client messaging, memberships and a course builder in one dashboard. Budget $699 for year two.
The ThimPress theme can sit under any of these. If it's the site that takes the money, though, the Extended Licence makes it the most expensive route here.
Final thoughts
If you only do one-to-one work, don't buy a course platform yet. A booking plugin that takes payment is enough, and Simply Schedule Appointments is the best rated one we checked.
Coaches who sell a self-paced programme next to their calls should pair a course tool with that booking plugin. Pick Tutor LMS if you want quizzes, certificates and live classes. Pick our Learning Theme if you'd rather pay once and get the design, payments and course discussion in the same download, and can live without quizzes for now.
For coaching where clients work through milestones with you over months, CoachKit is the closest fit, as long as the $699 renewal works for you. The Coaching theme suits someone who mainly wants a polished personal site and plans to sell elsewhere.
