SumUp is a European payments company best known for its card readers, used by millions of small businesses. It also takes online payments, so one SumUp account can cover both your counter and your website.

Setting up SumUp in PremiumPress

1. In your SumUp Dashboard go to Settings → For developers → API keys and create a secret API key (it starts with sup_sk_).
2. Copy your merchant code. It starts with M and is shown under your SumUp profile.
3. In WordPress open PremiumPress → Checkout → Gateways → SumUp, paste both, enable the gateway, save and click Test connection.
4. Set your site currency to match your SumUp account's currency.

There's no webhook to set up: the plugin tells SumUp where to send payment confirmations automatically. For test payments, use a SumUp sandbox account's key and merchant code. The plugin requires PremiumPress 12.

What do I need to set up SumUp in WordPress?

You'll need a SumUp account with online payments enabled, a secret API key and your merchant code, which you enter in your PremiumPress theme's payment settings. The plugin itself is free for members.

Does SumUp support recurring subscriptions?

SumUp handles one-off payments in PremiumPress. If you need recurring billing, choose a gateway shown under the Subscriptions filter on the plugins page.

How does the SumUp checkout work?

The buyer pays on SumUp's secure hosted checkout and comes straight back to your site. Each payment is checked with SumUp before the order completes.

Which currencies does SumUp support?

Only your SumUp account's own currency, so set your site currency to match it.
