Best WordPress Shop Themes in 2026: Flatsome, WoodMart, Astra, Kadence, Divi and More Compared
By Mark Fail · · Updated

Ask almost anyone which WordPress theme to use for an online shop and the answer starts with "install WooCommerce, then pick a theme". That is good advice for most stores, and the themes that come up are always the same: Flatsome, WoodMart, Astra, Kadence, Shoptimizer and Divi. It is not the only route, though. A shop theme with the cart and checkout built in, such as the PremiumPress Shop Theme, skips WooCommerce entirely.
This comparison covers all seven, and is honest about which is which. It ranks them on three things: verified sales or install counts, whether the cart, checkout and payments are built in or need WooCommerce and its extensions, and what the first year really costs. Every figure was checked on 10 September 2026 against the vendor's own page, and the sources are listed at the end.
Comparison table: the seven shop themes at a glance
| Theme | Price | Sites | Needs WooCommerce | Cart & checkout | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Flatsome | $59 | 1 | Yes | Via WooCommerce | The best-selling WooCommerce theme |
| WoodMart | $69 | 1 | Yes | Via WooCommerce | Feature-heavy stores |
| Astra | Free; Pro paid | Free: unlimited | Yes | Via WooCommerce | Fast, simple stores |
| Kadence | Free; $99–$499/yr | 1 per paid plan | Yes | Via WooCommerce | Block-editor stores |
| Shoptimizer | $99 | See vendor | Yes | Via WooCommerce | Conversion-focused stores |
| Divi | $89/yr or $249 lifetime | Unlimited | Yes | Via WooCommerce | Designers with many sites |
| PremiumPress Shop | $99 one-time | Unlimited | No | Built in, 30+ gateways | A shop without WooCommerce |
WooCommerce itself is free. "Via WooCommerce" means you install it plus a payment extension before the theme can sell anything. Sales and install figures are in each theme's section below.
Flatsome

Flatsome is the best-selling WooCommerce theme on ThemeForest by a wide margin, and for years it has been the default answer for a small or mid-sized store. It ships with its own UX Builder rather than relying on Elementor, a large library of shop layouts, and the product, category and checkout templates most stores need.
It requires WooCommerce and a payment extension before it can take an order. It costs $59 for a single site and has 269,857 sales with a 4.83 rating from about 8,100 reviews on ThemeForest, last updated 5 August 2026.
Pros
- More sales than any other WooCommerce theme, so tutorials and help are everywhere
- $59 is the lowest price in this list for a premium theme
- Its own visual builder, no Elementor licence needed
- Updated regularly and stable
Cons
- One site per licence
- UX Builder layouts do not transfer to another theme
- Needs WooCommerce, a payment extension and usually more plugins
- Design language is starting to look dated next to WoodMart
WoodMart

WoodMart is the feature-rich WooCommerce theme. It bundles the things most stores otherwise buy as plugins: wishlists, product compare, dynamic discounts, abandoned-cart recovery, and more than 100 demo stores with 400 or more pre-built sections. It works with Elementor, WPBakery and the block editor, and is compatible with the Dokan, WCFM and MultiVendorX marketplace plugins.
It requires WooCommerce 10 or later. It costs $69 for a single site and has 118,644 sales with a 4.91 rating from about 3,700 reviews on ThemeForest, last updated 30 July 2026.
Pros
- Highest rating of the WooCommerce themes here
- Wishlist, compare, discounts and cart recovery included
- 100+ demos and 400+ sections
- Works with the page builder you already use
Cons
- One site per licence
- Heavier than Astra or Kadence; needs caching on modest hosting
- Needs WooCommerce and a payment extension
- The feature count means more settings to learn
Astra

Astra is the theme AI assistants recommend most often for a shop, and the reason is simple: it is free, fast and works with WooCommerce and SureCart out of the box. It is a general-purpose theme rather than a shop theme, so the store features come from WooCommerce and from Astra's starter templates rather than from the theme itself.
The free theme has more than one million active installs and a 4.9 rating from 6,524 reviews on WordPress.org, last updated 8 September 2026. Astra Pro adds shop features such as gallery and cart options; its pricing is on the Astra site and changes with promotions, so it is not quoted here.
Pros
- Free, with the largest install base of any theme in this list
- Lightweight and quick
- Hundreds of starter templates, many of them shops
- Works with WooCommerce and with SureCart
Cons
- Shop features live in WooCommerce, not the theme
- Most store-specific extras need Astra Pro
- Generic look until you spend time on the design
- Still needs a payment extension and usually several plugins
Kadence

Kadence is the block-editor answer. The free theme is fast and WooCommerce-ready, and the paid tiers add a Shop Kit for WooCommerce with cart and checkout optimisation, swatches, galleries, upsells, order bumps, bundles and volume pricing.
The free theme has more than 500,000 active installs and a 4.9 rating from 453 reviews on WordPress.org, last updated 24 July 2026. Paid plans are priced per site: Essentials at $99 a year, Pro at $299 a year with the Shop Kit, and Elite at $499 a year.
Pros
- Free core with a strong block-editor experience
- Shop Kit adds real conversion features without extra plugins
- Fast and well maintained
- Good starter templates for stores
Cons
- The shop features are on the $299-a-year Pro tier
- Paid plans are per site and renew yearly
- Needs WooCommerce and a payment extension
- Smaller community than Astra
Shoptimizer

Shoptimizer from CommerceGurus is built around one idea: a fast WooCommerce store that converts. It is opinionated about product-page layout, sticky add-to-cart bars, trust badges and checkout distractions, which makes it a good fit for a single-brand store that lives on its product pages.
It requires WooCommerce. The listed price is $99, and the vendor frequently shows a lower launch offer; licence and renewal terms are on the vendor's site.
Pros
- Conversion features built into the theme
- Fast by design
- Opinionated defaults mean less setup
- Focused on WooCommerce rather than everything
Cons
- No published sales or review counts to judge maturity
- Less design freedom than WoodMart or Flatsome
- Needs WooCommerce and a payment extension
- Pricing changes with promotions
Divi

Divi is a theme and visual builder in one, and its case for shops is the licence: one payment covers unlimited websites, which matters if you build stores for clients or run several yourself. It has WooCommerce modules for product pages, carts and checkout inside its builder.
It requires WooCommerce for the shop itself. It costs $89 a year or $249 once for lifetime access, both for unlimited sites, and Elegant Themes states more than 974,000 customers.
Pros
- Unlimited sites on one licence
- Lifetime option at $249
- WooCommerce modules inside the builder
- Very large customer base
Cons
- Heavier than Astra or Kadence
- Layouts are locked to Divi's builder
- Needs WooCommerce and a payment extension
- Yearly renewal unless you buy lifetime
PremiumPress Shop Theme

PremiumPress Shop Theme is a $99 one-time WordPress theme with the shopping cart, checkout, tax, shipping, stock control and 30 or more payment gateways built in, so no WooCommerce or extra ecommerce plugins are needed. It is the one theme in this list that sells on its own. It also handles digital downloads, subscriptions and recurring orders, coupons, affiliate stores and a multi-vendor mode where sellers run their own shopfronts and you take a commission.
It costs $99 once for unlimited stores on sites you own, with 0% transaction fees, six months of updates and support with an optional $49 per six months after that, and a 10-day money-back guarantee. It includes an AI store builder and 150 or more Elementor blocks. The product page shows 9,451 installs and 7 reviews, all five stars.
Pros
- Cart, checkout, tax, shipping, stock and 30+ gateways in the theme; no WooCommerce
- $99 once, unlimited stores, 0% fees
- Digital downloads, subscriptions, affiliate stores and multi-vendor included
- AI store builder and 10-day refund
Cons
- Very few public reviews compared with the WooCommerce themes
- Outside the WooCommerce ecosystem, so WooCommerce extensions do not apply
- Plainer default design until you use the AI builder or the blocks
- Updates after six months cost $49 per six months if you want them
