Searchfield – category – taxonomy

Hello guys,
This has probably been answer before. But cant find the answer on the forum.
I am using a an advanced search widget and its all setup.

I have my categories and subcategories setup.
Is it possible to link them?

I have set category to be a “linked taxonomy” and created that new taxonomy(subcat)

But when selecting a value in the category field in the widget its not showing any values? Should it be possible to use the categories like this?
