Membership System Broken?

Ok previously I was using an external membership plugin but decided I wanted to revert back to the built in AP membership.

Found some problems….

I wanted A simple setup where as members who subscribe (pay) are able to then bid and also create listings. I do not want members who are not paying to be able to bid or buy. – Seems like the most obvious set up right?

So it seems that once the membership has been created members are able to log in without paying. Only upon clicking the “My Account” section are they asked to pay. This does not stop members from being able to access the “New-Listing” page and create an auction.
It also does not restrict the non paying members from being able to bid.

It seems that the membership only blocks the “My Account” page

Possibly I am missing something but I cant see the point in having a membership if users are able to still bid and list.

Shuoldnt no paying members be blocked from the listing page and also from the bid/buy/offer fields?

Hope someone can help as I am so close to launching my project and behind schedule now.
