I have had major problems trying to get the PayPal Adaptive Plugin to work. Here is the solution I have used, based on trial and error and help from the staff at Premium Press.

    A. THINGS YOU NEED IN PLACE BEFORE USING THE PLUGIN

    1. You as the Admin need a PayPal Business Account. The reason for this is that this will give you Live Credentials needed to input into the plugin.
    2. Locate you Live Credentials.
-log in to your PayPal Account
-click on Profile->Profile and Settings (This will take you to My Profile Screen)
-On the left-hand-side you will see four menu options:
    -Click on “My Selling Preferences”
-You will see API Access. towards the right of this, you will see the word “update” in blue
    -Click on this.
-Towards the bottom you will see: NVP/SOAP API integration
    -Request API-Credentials
-Option 1 PayPal API,click on Set up PayPal API credentials and permissions
-Option 2, click on Request API credentials
-Choose Request API credentials and click on Agree and Submit

-Your Credentials are displayed to you: It will look something like this:

    Credential Signature
    API Username Show
    API Password Show
    Signature Show
Request Date 29 June 2017 at 15:25:49 BST

When you click on show – it will reveal you credentials. It will look something like this. Please note, I have simple made these up, but it shows what it may look like:

    API Username: xxx_api1.example.co.uk
    API Password: G2BKP23A8E5BXRTG
    Signature: CFDht6jukilonfweGVjgu0Gvjuyekjdi

    B. YOU NOW NEED TO APPLY FOR A LIVE APP ID from PayPal

You now need to apply to PayPal for a Live APP ID. For this you need to go to the Paypal Developers site: https://developer.paypal.com/

-At the top right hand corner you will see Login to Dashbaord
-You use the same email and password you use to log into you Business PayPal Account
-Scroll towards the bottom and you will see NVP/SOAP API apps
-Click on Manage NVP/SOAP API apps
    – You are going to need to login again
    – This will take you to the screen where you can apply for a “New App”
    – This will open up an on-line application where you need to describe what the plugin is going to do.

    Here are my suggestions:
    Title: Commission Based Payment

Describe the business purpose of payment, senders and receivers, and end to end and step by step payment flow involved. *
    1. Sender(buyer)clicks on PAY for item on our website
    2. Takes them to PayPal
    3. Receiver 1 (Application Owner) receives the % commission into PayPal Business account
    4. Receiver 2 (Seller of Item) receives money into their PayPal Account – minus the % commission
    5. Sender has option to go back to my (merchant) website

Are you submitting this request for a PayPal App ID to use with a plugin or platform you are using? If so, please provide link to website where you purchased this plugin: *
    https://www.premiumpress.com/plugins/payment-gateways/

I didn’t put anything in the business Information

Please Provide your live URL if available
    – I provided my url of my site

    Clicked on Submit App

*** YOU WILL BE ISSUES WITH A LIVE APP HOWEVER YOU MUST CHECK THE STATUS. IT MAY INITIALLY JUST BE CONDITIONALLY APPROVED.***

You APP ID will look something like this – APP-007721751287FGFCKJ5

If it is ONLY CONDITIONALLY APPROVED – this will not work with the plugin yet

It may take a few days for PayPal to assess your application and make it APPROVED.

(If PayPal asks for further details – please provide them with it)

    Once APPROVED, its time to use the plugin;

    c. USING THE PAYPAL ADAPTIVE PLUGINn

    1. Download the PayPal Adaptive Plugin and Activate
**Please note that this only works with the Auction theme)
    2. Make sure both PayPal Plugins are enabled
    3. Ensure that in Themes–General Setting–Auction Setting you have the house percentage as well as the adaptive plugin – ensure they are the same
    4. Add in your Live details PayPal Adaptive Plugin

    Enable Gateway – Enable
    Enable Sandbox – Disable
My PayPal Email – info@example.co.uk (you main paypal business account email)
    Username (email) – xxx_api1.example.co.uk
    Password – G2BKP23A8E5BXRTG
    Signature – CFDht6jukilonfweGVjgu0Gvjuyekj
    APP ID – APP-017345518D886040M
    Currency Code – GBP
Display Name – Pay Now with PayPal
(%) I Keep – 10 (ensure this is the same as in Themes–General Setting–Auction Setting

Save changes. You plugin should be now ready to use

    D. TESTING

In order to test this you need three people
    Admin (yourself) –
Seller (will need a paypal account with currency set to the one that you have in your settings)
Buyer(will need a paypal account with currency set to the one that you have in your settings)

Let the seller add a listing
Let the buyer make a bid for the item
When auction ends – the buyer pays for the item
10% should go to the admin
The rest should go to the buyer

    Hope that helps!
