Feature and New listings not showing on home page.

I recently tried to update my old theme and had issues so I did a complete new install of everything. That fixed most issues but for some reason, on the home page, featured and new listings are now showing up. I have them both set to show on the home page but they do not. Any help on what I should check to make sure I set it up properly?
