Current Bid Price Wrong

I am running live auctions and the bidding process is broken. I’ve had two users just today that placed bids (max bids), only to have the program tell them that they are the high bidder but the current bid exceeds their max bid. Ex. bid (max)= $6.50 and the current bid shows as $7.30 with a required next bid of $8.30.
As administrator, how am I supposed to know what the actual bid is?!!!

On a separate note…
People still can’t bid from small screened mobile devices.
