Site running really slow

I just converted Directory Press to the responsive after using the other for a couple of years. It is running really slow. It is not the hosting. I removed all extra plugins it has very few. Even after I disabled them all it is still having issues. I have w3 cache going. Anyone else report problems after switching over. Everything went smoothly, it is just getting really hard to set the new theme up when its taking a minute to load a page.
