Problems with Search Results

I’m using the auction theme (responsive) and have started testing the advanced search feature. It is exactly as it comes and no changes have been made to it.

What I have found is that if I search one category (shoes) it brings up 11 results; however, 1 of those results is a FINISHED auction?? Why does it bring up a completed auction and how can I get it not to show finished auctions?

Secondly, when I click the “Order resulst by” tab and try and order by price either H to L or L to H, it only brings up 2 of those 11 results instead of all 11.

Again, why and how can this be fixed??
