    FRONT END:

I would greatly appreciate it if there was an option to put a “Out of Business” button next to the “Claim Listing” button so the public can help directory site owners clear out businesses that no longer exist.
    —————————————-

    BACK END:

Businesses that are flagged as “out of business” can then be listed in a panel similar to the current “recent activity” panel (found under “Website Overview”).
In the same way the “recent activity” panel keeps a list of all activity on the site, It should be relatively simple to develop a NEW panel that only lists businesses that have been flagged as “out of business”, OR add “out of business” flags to the current “recent activity” panel.
    —————————————-

    ALTERNATIVE BACK END:

When a business is flagged as “out of business” by the public, an automatic email could be dispatched to the administrator with the link to the site listing and a generic message about this particular listing being flagged as out of business.
    —————————————-
THE PUBLIC MUST BE ALLOWED TO HELP US STAY UP TO DATE AND KEEP OUR DIRECTORIES AS ACCURATE AS POSSIBLE.
    —————————————-

The major commercial directory sites Yellow Pages and Yelp have implemented similar Flag systems.

On Yellow Pages, Users are given the option to tick a box that says ” Yes, this business is permanently closed”
On Yelp, users are given the option to tick a box that says “Business Closed or Moved”.

The fact these two major businesses have implemented such flag systems drive home the point having this option available for Directory Sites is a positive step in the right direction.
