Directory 5.7 No. of Categories

I have enabled membership to allow multiple categories, (e.g. 30). When I make the actual listing it allows me to select many more, and there is no count of the number I have selected, or how many is left based on the category allowed count. When the list is made, the correct quantity, (i.e. 30) is listed, but the over selections are missing. Would it be possible to only allow to select the correct amount during the listing process?
