Working with CSV files

Hi All,

Out of curiosity, I was wondering how many folks run into “hurdles” while working (i.e. organizing/editing… etc) with CSV files (in general).
.
Note: I’m not looking for “assistance”, suggestions, work-arounds or anything like that. Curious how many other types “hurdles” people experience.

Also, this question isn’t specifically directed at WP and/or themes “import/export” type files/process and not for things you already have software to eliminate the “hurdle” (i.e. Excel or compatible).

More so about general “prepping”, working with CSV’s and the ability to accomplish misc CSV file tasks for various environments which may cause you an unnecessary headache of a sort.

A “hurdle” can include, but not limited to….
– Merging multiple CSV’s
– Proper column naming/position
– Time consuming and/or repetitive manual tasks.
– Proper CSV formatting
– Not having automation where it could help.
– Edit/replacing mass data in the file (i.e. coupons, affiliate id’s, URL’s… etc)
– Basically, not having the ability to accomplish specifically with the files… something that needs to be done by hand or another method.

I’ll start 🙂

I guess my biggest “hurdle” would be merging different affiliate related CSVs (from different sources, which have different formatting) and manually editing/adding/removing columns/column headers.

Anyone else? 😉
