WordPress Database Error Disk Full

Hi, Looking for help on determining what the problem might be, and more importantly, how to solve it. I have the Classified Theme, version 8.9.6 installed, and have been using Premium Press for many, happy years now. A few weeks ago, I updated the classified theme to the current version and soon there after, I have been experiencing error messages when using my site. Error Message: The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later. Additionally, a 503 Service Unavailable error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. I inquired to my host(GreenGeeks) as to what this error means, and they responded that my "website has consumed all available CPU/RAM resources. May be your website needs more resources to run or may be you were doing something at that moment which spiked up. I will best suggest to enable CloudFlare and Mod_deflate inside your cPanel" So, I enabled CloudFlare and Mod_deflate, and STILL receiving the errors. Then I did some online research and saw that my security plugin Wordfence has been known to cause memory issues, and I followed advice about how to minimize how much memory Wordfence uses, and I am still receiving the error messages. I went back to my host and asked again for assistance and their response was to send me the following: I have checked our server logs and found memory spike on your account. That's why you've faced this issue. Below is the Resource Usage log ### +-----------+-----------+----+----+----+---+----+----+---+---+---+------+------+-----+------+------+------+---+-----+-----+-----+-----+-----+ | From | To |aCPU|mCPU|lCPU|aIO|mIO |lIO |aEP|mEP|lEP|aVMem |mVMem |lVMem|aPMem |mPMem |lPMem |EPf|VMemF|PMemF|aIOPS|mIOPS|lIOPS| +-----------+-----------+----+----+----+---+----+----+---+---+---+------+------+-----+------+------+------+---+-----+-----+-----+-----+-----+ |04-10 01:47|04-10 01:48|5 |5 |100 |0 |0 |100|9.3MB |9.3MB |0B |0 |0 |27.1MB |27.1MB|384MB|1 |1 |0 |0 |0 |271B |271B |2.0MB|0 |0 |2.0K | |04-10 01:48|04-10 01:49|2 |2 |100 |0 |0 |100|7.0MB |7.0MB |0B |0 |0 |25.4MB |25.4MB|384MB|1 |1 |0 |0 |0 |272B |272B |2.0MB|0 |0 |2.0K | |04-10 01:49|04-10 01:50|4 |4 |100 |0 |0 |100|6.2MB |6.2MB |0B |0 |0 |24.9MB |24.9MB|384MB|1 |1 |0 |0 |0 |1.1KB |1.1KB |2.0MB|0 |0 |2.0K | |04-10 01:51|04-10 01:52|1 |1 |100 |0 |0 |100|7.0MB |7.0MB |0B |0 |0 |22.0MB |22.0MB|384MB|1 |1 |0 |0 |0 |306B |306B |2.0MB|0 |0 |2.0K | |04-10 01:52|04-10 01:53|1 |1 |100 |0 |0 |100|8.0MB |8.0MB |0B |0 |0 |22.7MB |22.7MB|384MB|1 |1 |0 |0 |0 |466B |466B |2.0MB|0 |0 |2.0K | |04-10 01:56|04-10 01:57|1 |1 |100 |0 |0 |100|8.4MB |8.4MB |0B |0 |0 |23.1MB |23.1MB|384MB|1 |1 |0 |0 |0 |148B |148B |2.0MB|0 |0 |2.0K | |04-10 02:10|04-10 02:11|1 |1 |100 |0 |0 |100|7.0MB |7.0MB |0B |0 |0 |22.0MB |22.0MB|384MB|1 |1 |0 |0 |0 |306B |306B |2.0MB|0 |0 |2.0K | |04-10 02:11|04-10 02:12|1 |1 |100 |0 |0 |100|6.2MB |6.2MB |0B |0 |0 |21.4MB |21.4MB|384MB|1 |1 |0 |0 |0 |272B |272B |2.0MB|0 |0 |2.0K | |04-10 02:16|04-10 02:17|39 |39 |100 |22 |22 |100|444MB |444MB |0B |0 |0 |315MB |384MB |384MB|22 |22 |0 |123 |0 |1.5MB |2.0MB |2.0MB|299 |299 |2.0K | |04-10 02:17|04-10 02:18|23 |23 |100 |8 |8 |100|222MB |222MB |0B |0 |0 |199MB |384MB |384MB|9 |9 |0 |31 |0 |1.0MB |2.0MB |2.0MB|233 |233 |2.0K | |04-10 02:18|04-10 02:19|2 |2 |100 |0 |0 |100|6.8MB |6.8MB |0B |0 |0 |13.5MB |13.5MB|384MB|1 |1 |0 |0 |0 |8.0KB |8.0KB |2.0MB|1 |1 |2.0K | |04-10 02:20|04-10 02:21|2 |2 |100 |0 |0 |100|10.1MB |10.1MB |0B |0 |0 |16.6MB |16.6MB|384MB|1 |1 |0 |0 |0 |897B |897B |2.0MB|0 |0 |2.0K | |04-10 02:21|04-10 02:22|4 |4 |100 |0 |0 |100|9.3MB |9.3MB |0B |0 |0 |15.7MB |15.7MB|384MB|1 |1 |0 |0 |0 |5.0KB |5.0KB |2.0MB|0 |0 |2.0K | |04-10 02:22|04-10 02:23|0 |0 |100 |0 |0 |100|2.3MB |2.3MB |0B |0 |0 |10.5MB |10.5MB|384MB|0 |0 |0 |0 |0 |0B |0B |2.0MB|0 |0 |2.0K | |04-10 02:26|04-10 02:27|12 |12 |100 |0 |0 |100|9.3MB |9.3MB |0B |0 |0 |15.9MB |15.9MB|384MB|1 |1 |0 |0 |0 |1.2KB |1.2KB |2.0MB|0 |0 |2.0K | +-----------+-----------+----+----+----+---+----+----+---+---+---+------+------+-----+------+------+------+---+-----+-----+-----+-----+-----+ ### Below is the explanation of each heading/column. In order to determine which plugin causes this problem you can turn them on one by one, and then remove/reinstall or replace with the similar one if needed. I have been manually blocking IP's on Wordfence, so I don't know if that has anything to do with this error. I posted in the Wordfence support forum about whether or not deactivating the plugin would erase all of the blocked data, and haven't heard a response yet, or it would be deactivated right now. I then looked at my Theme Website Activity Overview and saw on the recent activity (picture attached) all of the Expired Listings and I don't have that many listings that would be expiring like that. Can anyone help or point me in the right direction? I am not a wiz with these things. THANKS!!!

    Hello Jeniffer,
Am guessing you are on a shared host is simply asking you to upgrade your current host do the your site is using to much resources then you should consider switching to a vps.
You can also use a plugin to clean up and optimize your database

    Yes, shared hosting.

Listing wise, I have less than 200 listings total.
Photos, I have at least 200 uploaded, and currently deleting photos that are no longer attached to listings.

Is it possible Wordfence is causing the CPU usage and Physical Memory Usage to spike? Does anyone know if deactivating the plugin will cause me to purge it’s data, and in doing so, delete all the saved blocked IP’s if I re-activate the plugin?

Getting 404 errors more often than not now. I am sure my customers are getting annoyed as well.

    Hello Jennifer,

Out of curiosity, have you already reviewed the file size of the uploaded images?
If so, what’s the average file size of them and what’s the file size of the largest one?

James- Good question, I have not, and will.
Actually, when I did the theme update, the photos that people were submitting, did seem to increase in size in the listings. I had a limit set prior, need to see if that limit was changed upon the update.
(man I hope this is the issue!)

I have just gone ahead and permanently deleted all images not associated with any listing on the site, and cleaned up all listings as well.
I also turned On, Image Cropping in the Theme Set Up.
(Turn ON if you want the system to crop images that are larger than 900px. This is useful for saving space and faster loading times.)

I manually went in to scale some larger images, and on some, I received an error:Error while saving the scaled image. Please reload the page and try again. Tried multiple times and on different devises, same result. Any idea around this?

    Hello Jennifer,

Cropping is basically “cutting out” a portion from an image and has more to do with the dimensions, not the file size. Take a look at the actual file size (not how big dimensionally), but how many bytes ( B, MB or GB).

Technically cropping will make the image file size a bit smaller than previously, but if the file size is too large before cropping then it’s kinda fruitless and the problem will still exist and the images would need to be compressed/optimized.

Note: This is assuming that the problem actually is related to images that are large in file size.

    Hope that makes sense.

If you’d like for me to take a closer look, just download and zip up that image folder. Then email it to customphix[at]gmail[dot]com and I’ll be happy to review and/or manually compress/optimize them for you. Feel free to use dropbox or any location I can download them if it’s easier.

There are a few good image shrinking plugins available that shrink the images your users load to decent sizes to view that are quick to load also which might help.

I use imsanity and have heard good things about eeww

    Hi D,

    Thanks for the info.

It would be ideal to find the actual problem first before adding more into the mix (IMHO).

I deactivated Wordfence yesterday and installed the Stop Spammers Plugin that many people on this forum have recommended. Trying to cut down on the amount of “fake users” that register on my site. Big improvement in the amount of “fake users” that registered in the past 24 hrs. Al
I also checked my CPanel Resource Usage Stats, and instead of seeing the message, resources limited on your site, I see:
Your site had no issues in the past 24 hours
Your site might hit resource limits soon
You had I/O usage out of max I/O usage allowed

Still high and still trying to figure out what’s using so much resources. (Will check on image folder shortly)
