Very few options appearing in page set up

Hello,

I have looked at the video tutorials for editing the home page layout and they show loads of options such as sliders, top elements, content elements etc. I do not have these options (see screen shot) and I also don’t have page set up in the left hand menu. Please can anyone let me know where I get to all these options? (or perhaps my install didn’t work properly?)

Also when I click on child themes there are none there, it says “An unexpected error occurred. Something may be wrong with WordPress.org or this server’s configuration. If you continue to have problems, please try the support forums.” Can anyone advise what I can do about that?

I have only just downloaded and started working with the Director theme and wordpress today, so sorry if I have missed something here.
