Text not showing

My site has developed a problem in that some of the text on the site does not show on the front end, despite it clearly being there in the back-end.
It seems to be normal text only – bullet points show – but without any surrounding text.
I’ve tried deactivating all the plugins, but that didn’t fix the problem.
Any suggestions on how I get the text to display?
