I have just used google webmaster to speed up my site it states i Should Fix:
    Reduce server response time
Eliminate render-blocking JavaScript and CSS in above-the-fold content

Can anyone tell me how to do this?

    hi Jackie,

as for the reduce server response time, I suggest you contact your hosting provider for this so they can give you a better hosting plan.

The slow server response is due to the theme actually. I’ve tested many other themes on my server and manage a response time of 0.4s … with the current premiumpress theme I can’t get below 2s. :/

Server Response Time is out of your hands I’m afraid – that’s down to your server, which I had many arguments with the likes of GoDaddy over, who never admit to anything, and lost my custom as a result for being arseholes.

Anything else of course IS possible, and two things I’ve had success with are Autoptimize at https://en-gb.wordpress.org/plugins/autoptimize/ (turn on ALL minification options and make sure that nothing is broken) and WP Fastest Cache at https://en-gb.wordpress.org/plugins/wp-fastest-cache/ (just activate everything and leave it to run EXCEPT if using Autoptimize for minification when you should leave Fastest Cache minification unchecked)

    Good Luck!
