    Thanks Keshav

But Directory Press and Responsive Directory Theme are two entire different themes, this thread is about the Responsive Directory Theme from Premium Press,

    Subtle but significant detail.

Is there an option yet to turn off showing empty categories?

    Has this been resolved?
    I can’t find the setting in 4.5
If it IS there, can somebody perhaps show me please?

    – Show empty categories yes/no

This is located under Theme Options > Display Settings > Home Page > Layout & Objects > Categories object (click on the edit icon and the option will be at the bottom right)

    Dear Alexandra

If you want to hide empty categories from ‘selectbox in search’ and ‘advanced search’

    selectbox in search
edit php file _functions.php in folder wp-content\themes\DT39\DT39\templates\template_directory_theme file line no 85 2nd parameter true for hide empty category

    advanced search
edit php file class_search.php in folder
    wp-content\themes\DT39\DT39\framework\class
file line no 1375 2nd parameter true for hide empty category

Please find attached file for more details

@Keshav i know i need to edit the core files.

but Mark writes “DONT EDIT THIS FILE” at the beginning of the file.

i thought maybe he will add the options to hide them so that when i update the theme soon to the latest version i wont have to re-add code.

The functionality or the location of this setting is much different in the current responsive theme for directory press.

Under Page Setup > Display Setup > Categories

I have selected “show empty categories”. But when I GO to a subcategory that has tons of categories in it to show, they do not show at all.
