Short Codes

On the email setup, when I add the shortcodes it is send emails with the short codes displaying the actual shortcode. So for example:

Name: (username)

Then on the email sent you would expect:

Name: Joe Bloggs

But it actually displays what you have written in the email template.

Can anyone tell me what I’m doing wrong?
