Search Page – Prevent from loading listings when landing on page

The Search page loads listings when you land on it even before you do a search. Is there a way to prevent it from doing that? I have over 100k listings and while I am looking for ways to increase speed, I would like the search page to load immediately. Doing a search that includes all the listings is a waste of resources.
