Problem inserting & displaying image category

    I want to run multiple sites with the theme responsive directory.
    I have a problem: I want to display in the homepage categories with pictures.
    So I created my listing categories, I go to “edit” then I upload the images.
    But that’s impossible!
    I have a message “the item has not been updated” and yes, I have no image displayed.
    To make sure this does not come from a bug on the database of this site, I did the same test on another domain without any changes and I have the same problem.
    I have attached two screen shots.

    I hope to finally have a real help because I stopped on my projects.
