NUMERIC VALUES IN ADVANCED SEARCH

hello,
It seems that the advanced search module only searches for numeric values without commas. this is a problem for the majority of those who have clients creating listings, because their listing are simply not taken into account for any numeric values with many digits and commas.
EXAMPLE: custom field car kilometer: 24,000 which cannot be searched, (only 24000 can be searched).

THIS MAKES THE SEARCH MODULE NOT user friendly as most people intuition is to have large numeric values with commas, and thus- not get counted when searching for them.

Is there a solution or workaround for this that you can recommend?

there a few posts in the community forum on this- but no solutions, just aknowledgement of the issue.
would appreaciate a recommendation on what to do with this.
