I have had a look at the above shown site and it works well as long as you are not a banner advertiser. I see that the site carries several banner adverts in the right hand columns on the home page and throughout the site which do not show up at all when viewed on a mobile.
I think you should be very concerned about this because paying advertisers are going to be very upset then they have a look on their mobiles and their banners cannot be seen and are only visible on a PC. I am really concerned about this myself because I have quite a few banner advertisers lined up for my Directory site, shortly to be launched.
As an advertiser myself, I would not put a banner on a site that could not be viewed from a mobile device. Especially as the ratio of mobile users is fast overtaking PC users. Who would be prepared to pay for a banner that would never be seen by half the visitors to a site that is was on?
I have already researched this and found that quite a lot of other responsive websites just wrap the side columns below the main content column.
Is there anything in the pipeline to resolve this serious problem. If not, there will shortly come a time when it will not be viable to offer banner advertising. Those side banners are really important to create revenue from banners.
Can someone in the know please explain to me how and when this will be resolved.
