Getting rid of Parent Category count

Hello everyone
Having installed a Responsive Directory Theme, with the Listing Categories on the front page, I would like to get rid of the Parent Category count, and related parentheses.
I have tried but without success through Admin(-> Theme Options -> Display Setup -> Home Page -> Categories -> Object Setting dialogue box -> Parent Category Display, and here, in the Category Count box, there is only the option “Show”, while I need the option “Hide”).
Now I would like to know which line(s) of code need to be changed in order to achieve this objective.
Any help would be immensely appreciated.
