full width header, menu, map and footer?

Hey guys, I’m really confused here,

I’ve got responsive turned on, template width 100%

but the header/menubar/footer doesn’t span 100% of the browser.

I like to think im not stupid when it comes to setting up wordpress sites, I’ve done countless number of installs and customisations with premium themes, but the settings in here don’t seem to do what they say? Or am I missing something?
