Externalising custom CSS?

    Howdy.

    So I’ve made quite a few CSS style changes along the way and means that the source code of all my webpages is fair CSS heavy. How can I put this in an external CSS file. Do I need a create a new one or can I add it to one of the existing CSS files via FTP? I tried but It didn’t work, presumably because it refers to the inline styles last.

    Any help much appreciated.
