I’m really bugged by this problem. Every time I edit a listing, the TinyMCE editor adds empty paragraphs in the textarea element, and it seems to occur around other paragraph elements or naturally occuring breaks like an unordered list. What’s worse is that the empty paragraphs compound with each other, so they just multiply every time the listing gets edited.
This is definitely a bug because I was able to duplicate the issue on a fresh install of DirectoryPress 7.1.4 with all updates and no additional plugins installed.
Here is a forum topic from the TinyMCE website that I found on the same issue I’m seeing:

How would I go about adjusting the tinymce.init function so that it takes care of this problem?
