Displaying sold listings on the front page

I’m not sure if this request is beyond the scope of this version of the Real Estate template. I’m only a PHP newbie and can only do simple customizing.
My client would like to have a display of sold listings rotating in its own carousel under the current listings. The perfect place for the sold properties could be on the new properties and featured properties tab.
I’m aware of the fact that I could edit the names on the tab by editing the “home-layout-realestate1.php” file. However, we don’t want the listings to show up at the top with the current listings. Sold properties have to be displayed on its own. How can I achieve this?
