Dead space in upper right corner of site/theme

Hello! I am just wondering how I can get rid of the open space on my site in the upper right corner. I would like to put a 468×60 banner, or a text block on the site in that area but cannot find any way to do this. Nothing in the widgets for that area. Also tried to manually edit the header.php file and I cannot get anything in the same block as the logo, or to the right of it as I want. Only above or below when I edit the file manually.
