Custom Fields in posts

I need to know how toad a custom field to a post. without the table that is generated with
[FIELDS show=”map-state” hide=””] I want to get just the content in the field without the label and the table so it can be used in a sentence.

eg. field name [map-state]

The company is in [map-state] in the united kingdom.

I have tried it with just the field name as above but is just put in the [map-state] instead of the actual data.

is there a way to do this ?

I know it works in the listing layout if you edit that but would like to use it in the actual post content.
