Columns disappear in mobile

I’m using the latest version of the responsive DirectoryTheme (8.1), which, by the way, is the best of all the directory themes/plugins on planet Earth.

Here’s my problem… in a responsive website, columns shouldn’t disappear in mobile, they should stack one on top of another. Disappearing columns are extremely frustrating because mobile users can’t see all of the content on my site. The content is just as important for my mobile users as it is for those using a computer.

I’m talking about 2-, 3-, and 4-column text blocks on the home page and the 2nd and 3rd footer columns, all of which completely disappear when screen size is small. Categories on the home page are shown in columns that stack for mobile; couldn’t this be done for the other elements I mentioned?

Any chance of this being incorporated in a future update? Pretty please? With sugar on top?

(I even tried using a shortcode plugin that I use successfully on another non-PremiumPress WordPress blog. The plugin uses shortcodes to create columns that stack for mobile, but somehow Directory Theme is forcing those columns to squash together really tiny instead of stacking.)
