Class Design & Child Themes

Hello all,

I am modifying the design styles and content through making changes in the class_design file. I am basically adding some member login and account control links into the Top Nav area.

My question is: would the class design file be inherited in the new child theme once I create one? And, if so, will that be affected by updates?
