Should I be transferring my whole child theme template into the DT/templates/ folder? or just replace the style.css from my child theme to the directory themes style.css?
No no, none of the above. The child theme now goes into the same place as DT, the themes folder.
Or you can FTP it into the themes folder. Look at the attached pic. template_basic_shop_orange is a child theme in the same place as ST(Shop Theme). Inside it has _function.php and the modified style.css.
Is the banner showing without the child theme header.php file?
