Child Theme

I am a little bit confused. I want make my own childe-theme. I have some basic knowledges.
I have watched the video-tutorial “Creating a child theme”. But the structur of my files and folders are different from the example.
I am using the Responsive Job Board Theme 6.3.
There is no “theme” folder anymore in my “JB” folder.
So I did it in my own way and put the child folder in wp-content/themes folder.
I have now only a empty style.css file in this child folder. But if i activate this child-theme, the view is different from the original theme-no slider etc.
I want only some small changes save in a childtheme. What I have to do?
