Categories not displaying on Home Page

    I am running
    WordPress 3.8.1
    DirectoryPress Responsive Version 5.8
    Child Template RockyRed

    When I import categories via Theme Options/Tools/Bulk import my categories show on the Home Page but not in default WP category section. This is no good to me because I cannot them update or edit them.

    If I enter the categories by hand via the default WP category section.then they show there but do not show on the Home Page or in the theme home page category widget. I have looked everywhere in the settings and cannot seem to find anything that remedies this.

    Also, this was all happening before I upgraded to WP 3.8.1 and when I was on V 5.7. Upgrading did not seem to make any difference.

    Help please.
