Can't Upload Exe Files

Every time I try to upload exe files, it gives me this error: "Sorry, this file type is not permitted for security reasons." Where do I fix this at, as this is a download directory for exe files, after all!! Thanks much! ~ Paul

Servers generally don’t allow you to upload exe files, as these are often used to spread viruses.

If you must upload executables, put them in an rar or zip file.

I’ve been running several download directories for over 15 years, and thought I’d try my hand at this script. I’ve NEVER had an issue with exe files – as that’s what most download directories ARE – software exe files.

Is there not an option to allow this?

I guess one workaround would be to FTP the files up to a directory, and use the url for the “Download Path” in the listing information.

It not a server problem but probably a directive with the hoster.

Paul is right with the work around.

    It’s a difficult area.

I would like to post more on this and get Mark more involved.

    Good hosting is a winner.
