Author widget overflow and other posts thumbnail not showing

1. when I have a longer user name, instead of wrapping the name, it overflows. See:

andreea_kondora (not a long user name after all) – overflows from it
also, others had this problem, here:

The author Widget Does Not Wrap

but no answer was given.

2. after upgrade from 6.6.3 to 8 friday (05 dec) the thumbnails in the other posts from this author section are not showing anymore (the’ve worked on 6.6.3). See:
