Anti spam for registration

I would like to protect my DP website against spam registration. Currently I receive one every day (always with email from and I suspect that this ‘community’ will grow faster.
I tried SABRE but it doesn’t seem to work with my DirectoryPress configuration.
If the plugin is activated submitting the registration causes this error:

Fatal error: Call to a member function get_error_code() on a non-object in /…/…/wp-content/plugins/sabre/classes/sabre_class.php on line 322

Can somebody help me with this issue?
Or recommend another registration captcha module?

    Thanks in advance

    Hi Thomas:

I’m having the same issues, except as you mentioned it gets bad fast. I’ve been using directorypress on my Investment Property website for about 6 months now and while I love it, my registration spam is out of control. Just a few minutes ago I received my 1089th spam registration according to the message counter in my MAIL app.

I have a CAPCHA plugin and even some other plugin that simply has a picture of a smiley face (name escapes me) and neither work for the registration spam. It’s like they are getting past the DirectoryPress registration screen and to a backdoor of wordpress or something.

Anyone else know how to handle this?

I installed “SI Captcha for WordPress” now and it works properly with my DP regitration form.
Will see what the protection skills are.

I have installed AVH first defense against spam and it kept giving errors like WARNING Missing argument…. when a user tried to register. I have been using Wordfence but since the last update (wordfence update) it is also giving an error when users try to register – see below. Any ideas why this is happening?

Warning: Missing argument 2 for wordfence::registrationFilter() in /home/weddings/public_html/directory/wp-content/plugins/wordfence/lib/wordfenceClass.php on line 550

Warning: Missing argument 3 for wordfence::registrationFilter() in /home/weddings/public_html/directory/wp-content/plugins/wordfence/lib/wordfenceClass.php on line 550

Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/weddings/public_html/directory/wp-content/plugins/wordfence/lib/wordfenceClass.php:550) in /home/weddings/public_html/directory/wp-content/themes/directorypress/PPT/framework/ppt_core.php on line 955

Try this in your .htaccess file. Back it up first.

See if it helps. Helps stop spammers and other scumbags.

I’ve used that same plugin and it seems to have at least reduced spammers. :) | Premium Plugins and Custom Theme Design
