Advertsing Placement

Hi Guys,

I am having some difficulty place banners where I need them within the theme. I have not placed banners on a site before so I am hoping this is nothing more than finger trouble.

I would like to have banners in my side bar. The default advertising set up does not seem to allow this only the header footer and some space at the top of the page. Is there a way of changing this?

I thought I would get around this by using the text widget and putting this is the right column. It works to a point but it has a frame and the ‘title box’ showing. (see attachment)

What am I doing wrong?
