Advance Search w/ custom listing checkbox field

I have created a custom listing field called “Genre” and have created it as a Checkbox field type with four values.

When I create a custom advanced search field against that custom listing field, with a field type of Multiple Selection, I do not get text values displayed in the Advance Search widget even though I’ve chosen “Text” as the value in the “Data Stored As” field. (I’ve attached an image of the widget.)

Any tips on how to see the actual values I have available for that custom listing field?
