Hi I am getting ready for a launch in the 22nd and was wondeirng a few questions.

    1. Is there a way to remove the “Hits” information from the Listing in a directory?

    2. Is there a way to create a link that takes you to all the directories and not just show the Directory in the Home page?

    3. Is there an easier way to add all the countries? Currently it looks like you have to type them in. Any ideas?

    Appreciate any help!

    THanks!

I have removed the “hits” from the public display but it still there for the user/owner when they log in.

If you are referring to categories for your directory then yes. I use the Advanced Menu plug in. This allows me to put my list of categories any where.

In Directory Press tools you can import a csv file for country/state/city

    Hope that helps

    1. in Display Settings under the Search/Listing Page tab there is a section for Custom Display Fields.
For Hits set it to –hide field–

    2. you can create a page template file and call it tpl-alldirectorylisting.php
in that file you can do the query to get all the posts and order it the way you want.
    you use query_posts
    http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/query_posts

once you are done you can create a new page call it “All Listings”
and on the right you can select the page temaplte file you just created.
save that page and go to the menu and add the page to your menu

    3. cant find one that will do it but you can create a plugin for it to do just that

I have posted a simpler solution to the 2nd point (displaying all listings on a page):

    Kind regards,

Ok so I tried various recommendations, the Advance menu widget… but that only seems to work for a Widget.

Is there a way to have the Home Page obect “Category Block” to be on another page besides the home page?

@Alexandra, will this create the look of a “category block”?
    2. you can create a page template file and call it tpl-alldirectorylisting.php

Mario, if you want to have a ‘Category Block’ look, you can create a page and assign it the ‘[Taxonomy List Template]’, publish it, then visit the page and you will be asked to make a selection (this happens only the first time you visit that page). Select ‘Category’.
Now the page will show the ‘Category Block’.

    Kind regards,

    Richard

Hi Richard! Thanks for your help! That worked really well but how do I put the Directory listings in there? Is that doable? So close! Thank you for all your help in advance!

CORRECTION: I want the DIrectory Category block with the Category listing looking the same. as it is in the home page with all the icons and stuff.

    Does that make sense?

You would need to do some css styling, there is nothing ‘out of the box’.

New to DirectoryPress. I’ve been working on it for a few hours. It’s fairly simple, out of the box. Is there a thread about how to get a list of business categories, subcategories, and how to upload them. I just installed a CSV plugin. Thanks.

I just created a CSV and uploaded it through the DirectoryPress->Tools->Category/Taxonomy page
