Listings widget in footer

Hi

I’ve placed a listings widget in the footer of a test site and played around a little with the widget’s custom content area. What I want to achieve is to show featured listings in the footer. So I added the listings widget and wrote the following in the custom content area:

This nearly works to my desire, but I have two problems (see attachment).

1. I want to get rid of the full width border lines as I already added borders to each listing;
2. Get all listings in one line instead of the current steps-like structure.
