Reduce image size while uploading

When a user uploads a listing image on add listing form. is it possible to reduce the image size. As some user may upload images straight from DSLR cameras where each pictures may be 2-3M in size. does the image uploader on add listing form reduce the image size? one of my user reporting he adds all the details then hits submit form goes away as normal but the listing is not added. however, I can not recreate the issue in my side but the user keeps reporting the issue. I am guessing he is trying to upload big size images which goes on timeout but the user don’t get any error message. I have asked similar question before suggestion was to set image size on media setting which i did.

any suggestion on how the add listing form comes back without adding the listing?
