Comments in Pages: How To?

I posted the below in a previous thread, but no one has responded for multiple days. Trying again in a new post.

I am using Responsive DirectoryTheme 8.0, The Square Business Child theme in WP 4.1 and have the same problem. I want to enable Comments on non listing, non post pages, and have tried the suggestion above, which is to add
<?php if(get_option(‘display_single_comments’) == “yes”){ comments_template(); } ?> to the Page.php file. I presume the Page.php file of the parent theme (DT 8.0).

This changes nothing for me. I have validated that the pages in question have the Discussion check boxes enabled in their setting, and have validated that the site Discussions are correct for what I am looking for.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
