Custom item layout not working

I have a fresh wp 4.0 installation with the directory theme, but got some trouble to make the item page look like the demo site. the ‘content page layout’ contains the shortcodes as the demo site, but the listings itself look different. actually there is only the title and description visible. no tool box, no map, no image…

If i click on ‘Edit this listing’, the error page ‘This is somewhat embarrassing, isn’t it?’ is shown.
I tried to change the packages and memberships with no result. the listings are published and are assigned to categories. they appear in the category view.
I have no idea, where else to research. Any hints for a premiumpress novice?
