video thumbnails?

    I am running in to difficulty with video thumbnails. When a user uploads a video (mp4 and fly) I am not getting a video thumbnail. It is not being created or displayed in the site. Sometimes, it is just a black square. This is a critical / core function and I am hoping someone can give me a hand. This is the only thing preventing me from launching my site and going live. Can anyone help? Would changing to something like jwplayer help?
