First of all, is there an instruction manual somewhere that I can read? I know Mark is trying to cover a lot with the videos, but I find videos slow and I can find more information glancing at a PDF or webpage in a few seconds, than 5 minutes watching a video that hoping to get an answer that isn’t there. So if there is a wiki or pdf that has some in depth information could someone please point me toward it?
I am creating a consultant website. There is to be only one profession but listings from 20 countries. I expect to have a “Consultant Membership” that gives them one business listing with one photo. The consultant will be required to create an Annual Subscription through PayPal.
Q. If the Consultant cancels the subscription after 6 months will they still be visible on the site for the remainder of the 6 months?
What happens at the conclusion of the 12 months?
I would like the site to automatically downgrade their membership to “Lapsed Membership” and hide their listing. Can this membership downgrade be done automatically when the period they paid for is over?
Within that 12 month “Lapsed Membership” period they would be able to renew the subscription with an additional one-off fee or have their status downgraded further, to “Unaccredited”. I want to have a short 7 day window where they can go from Lapsed to Consultant by giving them 7 days to set up the annual subscription again. I intended to make a pending membership to do this, Can this be done?
I ask because I have found how listings can be changed, but not memberships can be downgraded.
The path would be as follows:
1. “Consultant Membership” creates PayPal subscription that renews annually after 365 days. This is for ease of maintenance. There is no need to chase people to renew memberships as it is handled automatically. No need to login and change website if people are overdue etc.
However, a Consultant can login to PayPal and cancel their annual subscription (rather than just not pay an invoice that is sent to them and require follow up invoices etc.
Therefore Can Directory Theme do the following?
2a. If Consultant cancels subscription, membership ends at the completion of the period they paid for.
2b. Consultant is moved by DT to “Lapsed Membership” (no listing) – they have 1 year to renew or become “Unaccredited”)
2c. To renew they pay a one off fee for “Renew Cancelled Membership” (annual fee +50% penalty & no listing. 7 days). After payment they are taken to the original “Consultant Membership” page to immediately renew “Consultant Membership” with annual subscription via paypal – or they can login within a 7 day period to upgrade if something untoward happens
Or do I have it wrong way around? Is it better to have a Consultant Membership but downgrade the Listings to not visible if they cancel subscription?
Or am I asking too much of DT and this is completely beyond its capability?
Again, if someone could point me to an instruction manual I would appreciate it.
