This issue I have seen on many development tests or published PP sites this same problem,
The Listings title jumps up and down continuously as visitors scroll and read down the page.
I had a look at the sized of the images being displayed in the carousel slider, because at first glance you would think it might be because the images are of different sizes, however this is not the case.
Both images being displayed in the slider carousel are exactly the same 1,170px × 400px (scaled to 1,140px × 390px)
This is one of the reasons I stopped development on the classified theme v7 more than 12 months ago.
prior to buying a full membership for all themes. which I love!
When the website above is being viewed on a tablet Samsung galaxy Tab3, or iPad the carousel doesn’t actually swap images at all in landscape or portrait view.
It just displays like one single static image. I then decided to check it out on my Galaxy Note3 (3×5 inch screen) phone the website takes more than a minute to load for the first time, and when it does load the carousel slider does not appear at all in landscape or portrait view.
On a desktop and Laptop screens (I have 7 different screens) I thought id test it on all of them!
See screen shot of what it looks like on Desktop PC screens.
I think this is a really lovely website with quality graphics. However it spoils it because of the behavior of the carousel slider.
from the perspective of a front end designer/developer and customer, Its a bit disheartening to proceed with hours of development to keep having little issues! I’ve been reading the forum posts for more than a year to date, reading issues, problems, questions, and asking some myself. I keep referring to myself as a beginner! although when I think about it seriously, I’m not a beginner, because Ive been designing and developing websites for more than 15 years. I am however new to PP because I have not proceeded far past the initial setup stage of any PP theme without uninstalling or overwrite with a new install of WordPress to then try another theme! …………. same old, same old …… so the question really is; Does anything work as expected? I have used other themes, where support is non existent, and I find PP support to be excellent for answering questions eventually, however many answers are coming from other PP customers. In some cases the questions are often misunderstood, or not explained fully, therefore adequate answers are unable to provide a perfect solution for questions asked.
The concept of the PP themes are really excellent, In fact they are brilliant. I love them, and I think Mark is really clever. But here’s the thing !!! This discussion isn’t about complaining, as there is nothing to complain about. I’m writing this post in the hope of entering into a mature discussion about what can be done to improve useability, and perhaps the learning curb for “unseasoned” new or green PP users, Think of it this way from a marketing perspective, with a view to helping PP themes step up and evolve moving forward. Could we perhaps discuss things that would improve setting up from the absolute PP beginner stage for new customers and members, reducing the learning curve, confusion, and frustration, and concentrate on helping Mark to get more sales, therefore more funding would be available for development and improvement of “Existing” themes, Updated individual videos, more explicit and more in depth documentation, and a multitude of other petite things to help improve usability for PP newcomers. After all we are all customers and we all want things to be perfect, however there is only 1 Mark !!! he can’t do everything to every theme that everybody wants or needs, as well as develop more new themes, child themes, and keep up with WordPress general advances as well, etc etc you all know what I mean…..
What I’d like to know, is there a PP theme that works straight out of the box as is, without any personal preference customizations apart from the initial and necessary default set up? Just one theme? If an “Experienced PP seasoned user” has any thoughts I would be very grateful if you could spare a few moments to share your thoughts.
If any of us are promoting themes or were in the affiliate program, and perhaps focused on the particular theme that works 100% right out of the box, it might increase sales therefore would help Mark towards improvement & development costs. and of course thorough testing prior to release, the ability to do thorough testing prior to release, would go a long way towards cutting down frustrations, where hours have been spent on setting up a theme and developing a site to find lumps and bums keep popping up along the way. With any other brand of theme I have used, There have been absolutely no lumps and bumps during set up or development of a site, but of course, these developers obviously have more resources at their disposal, so obviously things will run smoother! The only reason to contact support or post a question in a forum should be for personalized customization questions and “how to do it” questions, don’t you think?
I would really like to set up a theme, any theme and showcase it without having to code it to work myself. After all isn’t that what developers and designers buy themes for? to get a head start and save development time! If I just set up “One” perfectly working theme, I could sell hundreds for Mark hence providing funding for further development and a win win for all of us!
Well……it’s time to get another coffee now! Thank you for reading, and also I’d like to thank you for (NOT) interpreting this post as a complaint. It’s intent is to Help PP not complain about it. If you don’t fully understand my train of thought, please don’t comment unless you have something intelligent to contribute towards a mature and helpful discussion.
Bless you, bless your tired keyboard, and bless your cotton socks! and most of all if you have any positive or helpful ideas meaning (solutions to suggest) … go ahead and start typing! I would love anybody to discuss any strategic ideas.
